FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Hi there! Thanks for your interest in my work I would love to make a cake for your next event. If it’s your first time ordering with me, below are some answers to my Frequently Asked Questions.

How do I place my order with you?
You can either fill out my order form, call or email me to discuss more.

Do I need to pay a deposit and what is your cancellation policy?
Unfortunately, in the cake world, sometimes I experience a no-show and obviously there is a significant cost associated with creating your dream cake. To secure your booking, a 40% deposit is required. If you cancel your booking at least 2 weeks prior to your collection date, your deposit is refundable, less a 15% processing fee. This fee covers a small amount of my materials which I would have already purchased for your creation.

When is the full amount due?
The balance of payment is due via cash on pick-up/delivery or via bank deposit one business day prior. If you choose the latter, please make sure you send me a copy of the payment receipt.

How far in advance should I book my cake with you?
As soon as you can! The more time we have to create your dream cake together, the better. I take orders on a first come, first serve basis and have limited availability. I recommend booking your cake 1-2 months in advance.

I’ve left my cake to the last minute, is there any chance you can squeeze my order in?
I might be able to! Simply call me or drop an email to see if I can fit you in.

Can I change my order once it’s been placed?
Yes, I can change most orders, depending on the time frame. Simply get in touch with me requesting your changes and I will do my best to accommodate. I will confirm all updated orders via email.

What size cake do I need?
The size of your cake will be determined by the number of guests you wish to serve, and what portion sizes you intend on serving. If you are already having dessert as part of your menu, finger/coffee size portions will be sufficient.

I’ve seen a cake on your Instagram feed that I really like. Can you make something similar?
Of course! I can make the same cake as one you have seen.

Can I send you an image and you replicate it?
I truly respect other cake designer’s work therefore I do not copy cakes, however, you may send me a photo to use as inspiration to create something very similar and that you will love.

Do you cater to allergies and intolerance’s?
I can create gluten free, vegan and lactose/dairy free desserts and cakes. If you have any specific allergies, please let me know and I can make one to your liking for a small extra fee. Please note, every effort is made to ensure these special cakes and desserts are allergen free, however cannot be 100% guaranteed.

Are cake stands available?
Yes! I do hire them out, however, they incur a security bond which is refunded once the stand has been returned to me.

How do I transport my cake/dessert?
Keep the cake box on the floor of your car with the air conditioning on. The floor is the flattest and most stable part of the car. Try to avoid putting it on the seat, as it can cause the cake to slope during transportation. On someone’s lap is also a great way to transport. Keep your cake refrigerated and bring to room temperature at least an hour before serving.

Please note that once your cake has left Bees Cakes, I cannot take any responsibility for damage in relation to how it has been transported.

Will my cake be ok in the fridge overnight if I collect it the day before my event?
Yes! All of my cakes can be eaten 24 – 48 hours after pick up. I recommend to make sure that all other foods are in containers as the cake will take on the fridge odors. Fresh flowers will keep better either cling wrapped or put on the day of event. Bring the cake to room temperature before serving. Keep it away from direct sunlight, heaters or flames. After the event, cakes last up to six months frozen.

Do you do deliveries to homes and venues?
Yes, I provide a delivery service to certain Sydney suburbs starting from $55. I deliver cakes myself so that it arrives in pristine condition. I can deliver your order prior to your arrival at your venue for peace of mind or to your home. Send me an email to find out more.

I have a question that was not answered here. What is the best way to contact you?
No worries! I’d love to answer any and all of your questions. Please send me an email or message me.
